Hi everyone. We’re always working behind the scenes of Feminine Inquiry to add things, improve other things, and provide our submitters and readers with cool stuff that makes their lives more enjoyable. But, we also are a group of volunteers putting all of this together in our free time (seriously we’ve all got full time jobs!).
Naturally, one of the biggest struggles we’ve had is how to properly fund Feminine Inquiry. We don’t want to rely on or ask for donations, nor do we want to demand payment for our submissions because, as writers, we understand how infuriating it can be to pay for submissions. However, we want to create revenue so we can continue to have awesome contests like our Fiction Contest, and our current Non Fiction Contest. Additionally, we want to start paying both our blog and journal contributors when we can.
So, to help us with this, what we’ve done is create an online shop. You can find it by visiting FeminineInquiry.com/store. Right now we’ve only got two products:
- A 2016 Digital Subscription | For a set price, we’ll send you a digital version of all journals we publish in 2016. We try to publish two times a year, at least, but this year we’re working towards publishing three times a year. Additionally, we’ll send you any additional digital products we create, and in 2016 we’re attempting to make some more.
- A Submission with Feedback Option | This one’s a bit different but simple enough to explain: you’ll get some feedback with your submission. We already try to personally respond to each and every submission we get, but with this option we’ll improve that. One of our staff members will be assigned to your piece and they’ll make notes, critique parts of it, let you know what we liked, didn’t like, and what you could do different next time you submit.
We’re hoping you’ll take us up on these two options and that they’ll help us generate some more revenue while still providing our readers and submitters with some valuable resources. As always, let us know what you think or what you’d like to see more of. After all, Feminine Inquiry is about you, the reader; we’re just along for the ride.
